About Us

Thank you for visiting Master Moon’s Martial Arts. Master Moon has been providing martial arts to this community since 2000. Master Moon’s Martial Arts has become well known in the Bergen and Ocean County areas for its comprehensive, fun martial arts classes and the valuable skills taught to students.

At Master Moon’s Martial Arts, located in Closter NJ and Manahawkin NJ, we offer flexible membership plans and no long-term contracts. We have a friendly, family atmosphere that caters to all fitness levels and allows you to train at your own pace, whether it is the easier entry level or the more rigorous advanced level. It is not all work and no play. Learning TaeKwonDo is fun. At Master Moon’s Martial Arts, our students train for fun, fitness and competition.

We offer a state-of-the-art facility that is clean, bright, air-conditioned and fully equipped with a high-tech floor that your knees will love! All of our classes are small and we pride ourselves on our ability to give individualized training.

What is Tae Kwon Do?

Benefits

Tae Kwon Do translates literally to “the way of kicking with feet and striking of hands.” As with most translations, this is somewhat of a simplification. In actuality, “Tae” refers to the legs and lower torso, which provide the force necessary to do the hopping, jumping, and flying kicks that Tae Kwon Do is famous for. The lower torso is also where the center of balance for the body is located.

“Kwon,” as with “Tae”, means more than just “striking with hands.” It refers to the upper body and arms as well. Finger tips, wrists, fists and elbows are also used to strike with. An inherent part of the term “Kwon” also means defense. It is the complement of attack or strike and must be explored in order to learn balance of form and technique. “Do” means “the way.” This is the domain of the mind and indicates that more is involved than just training the body. It is not enough for the practitioner to become proficient in just the physical aspects of the arm; his mind and body must work together in harmony, embodying the spirit of oneness.

Thus, Tae Kwon Do utilizes both mental and physical development which provides a setting for emotional well-being, freedom from stress and fear, a complete system of self-defense, and a truly unique lifestyle.

Tiny Tiger Classes

This program contains a detailed curriculum focused on improving pre-school aged children’s basic listening and motor skills. These skills will help them enter society with a more confident and enthusiastic approach. We Believe between the ages of 3.5 and 6 are the more important years of child’s development. Our program can enhance positive development in a fun and motivating way.

Children’s Classes

BEGINNER – WHITE TO ORANGE BELT

A martial arts class designed for the physical and mental moral development of the students. This class emphasizes TKD philosophy, Spirit, History, Breathing techniques, focus training, stretching, light conditioning with a mix of blocking, kicking, punching, one step sparring, fighting techniques from Master Moon.

INTERMEDIATE – GREEN TO PURPLE BELT

A martial arts class designed for the physical and mental moral development of the students. This class emphasizes TKD philosophy, Spirit, History, Breathing techniques, focus training, stretching, conditioning with a mix of blocking, kicking, punching, one step sparring, fighting techniques and poomse from Master Moon.

ADVANCED – BROWN TO BLACK BELT

A martial arts class designed for the physical and mental moral development of the students. This class emphasizes TKD philosophy, Spirit, History, Breathing techniques, focus training, stretching, conditioning with a mix of blocking, kicking, punching, one step sparring, fighting techniques and poomse from Master Moon.

INTERMEDIATE – GREEN TO PURPLE BELT

This class emphasizes TKD philosophy, Spirit, History, Breathing techniques, focus training, stretching and heavy plyometric training with a mix of basic and intermediate blocking, kicking, punching, one step sparring (left and right side), fighting techniques and poomse from Master Moon.

ADVANCED – BROWN TO BLACK BELT

A martial arts class designed for the physical and mental moral development of the students. This class emphasizes TKD philosophy, Spirit, History, Breathing techniques, focus training, stretching and heavy plyometric training with a mix of basic , intermediate and advanced blocking, kicking, punching, one step sparring (left and right side), fighting techniques and poomse from Master Moon. This class prepares our students for Black Belt.
